The fifth American voice for the voice assistant is added in the latest version of the software. The new voice is referred to in the user-facing interface as "Voice 5," but the developer reports that it is actually "Quinn."
The new voice sounds more gender neutral than the previous ones. Apple confirmed to the publication that it was recorded by a member of the LGBTQ+ community, though the company didn't offer any further details on the voice actor's identity. Last year's voices were recorded by Black actors as part of the company's long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion.
You can listen to all of the options. The audio clips start and end with a new voice.
The new fifth American voice will be available for English speakers, giving users more options to choose a voice that speaks to them.
There is a new anti-stalking privacy notice in the latest version of the software. The software is expected to be widely available next month.
