An apparent rip-off of Donald Trump's social media network Truth Social has racked up downloads in the six figures on the Play Store, causing confusion by some. According to Insider, the app titled "MAGA Hub" has crossed 100,000 downloads on the Play Store. Most of the downloads seem to have been in the last few weeks, even though the app was launched in August. Trump Media and Technology Group has released a version of Truth Social for Apple's App Store, but it hasn't yet been opened for use on the Android platform. The top of search results for an official release on the Play Store has been filled by theMAGA Hub app. A constant stream of meme and messages is sent out by a global chat group which Insider reports automatically subscribes users to. The company's location is listed as a residential address in Germany.
There is an endless amount of content that can be tailored for you, as well as a Stories feature and end-to-end encryption.
Play the game that was specially created for the MAGA community. Check out the global leaderboard, how well did you play?
When we tried to register an account on the app, we got an error message stating that it had already exceeded the allowed number of daily email verifications. The account recovery feature simply returned the message "something went wrong" after we chose a password, and the app randomly began displaying content from its news feed. An attempt to access the Global chat was blocked because of the inability to send a verification email.
Gizmodo reached out to the email address listed as the point of contact for MAGA Hub, as well as the Trump Media and Entertainment Group, for comment. We haven't heard back yet, but we will update this post when we do.
A quick search of commentary from users on social media showed that they had been tricked into using it and that there were technical problems. The reviews flowed in at a steady pace. Gizmodo was not able to determine which of the reviews were earnest or trolly, hoping to lure more Trump supporters into using the app.
Competely removes profile after reviewing app. One reviewer gave the app one out of five stars and said that all friends lost. Crashes too much. There is a translate button for international. You can opt out of chat and notifications. There needs to be option buttons on feed.
One-star reviewer said that it was still full of bugs with lots of loading and buffering. I paid for a premium and hope it fixes doom.
Many users thought that the version of Truth Social that was on the Android platform was called MAGA Hub. As of Tuesday afternoon, the vast majority of people appeared to have caught on, but a number of users missed the memo.
Thought this was a better site than the new one. There are ads everywhere. You can remove the profile. Unless one by one, the posts can be deleted. This app's info is misleading. It's not worth it or a premium membership. It was deleted.
I would really appreciate it if you could make the video lengths much longer as I want to use my profile to be of service, and that entails to post much longer then 10 second videos, and one user pleaded to the ex-president. Love it, love trump, love freedom of speech, love right wing news, I love unbiased information.
Thank you President Trump for everything you did and tried to accomplish for us Americans, you will always be in my prayers and I will always support you. One five-star reviewer said that this is coming from a convicted felon.
Some users think that the MAGA Hub is a Democratic psyop. Democrats were accused of being the cause of its technical problems or low reviews, which averaged just over 3 stars with over 8,000 reviews.
It's more likely that it's a scam by the Democrats. The app freezes my phone. I'm going to uninstall right away. One wrote that it can be a virus. It is a great change to fraudbook. My first review disappeared like many others on here. The site is being messed with by the promotion of Google/demorats. Don't back down from the pukes!
There was a guy who loved the app but didn't like the amount of snuff photos in the global chat.
The app is called the same and seems like a cool crowd except for the person showing pictures of dead bodies.
The launch of Truth Social's mobile application was far from perfect. It took the number one position on the App Store, but it also launched with a number of bugs, including the accidental use of another company's logo, and eternal waitlists for new users. Truth Social does not appear to have a browser version ready yet, although one is in the works.
