A new home has been found by Willie Cauley-Stein.
According to John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia, the seven footer has a 10-day contract with the 76ers. The Dallas Mavericks did not wish to keep him after he played 18 games this season.
In his time with Dallas, he averaged 1.9 points and 2.1 rebound. He took some time away from the team in late November for personal reasons.
The organization will continue to support him through his personal matter after Dallas waived him. Chriss was signed to a permanent roster spot by the Mavericks.
The Sacramento Kings drafted Cauley-Stein in the sixth round. He was with the Warriors for a season before joining the Mavericks. In seven NBA seasons, he has averages of 8.8 points and 5.9 rebound.
The depth in the frontcourt could be provided by Cauley-Stein. One of the leading candidates for the NBA's Most Valuable Player award this season is Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, who is averaging a league-best 28.6 points, 11.2 rebound and 1.4 blocks.
The Philadelphia 76ers will get a change of pace with the addition of Willie Cauley-Stein, as he is an energetic rim-runner off the bench who should be a top pick-and-roll option for James Harden.
The Philadelphia 76ers will play their first game after the All-Star break on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Philadelphia 76ers are in the hunt for the top seed in the Eastern Conference and trail the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls by 2.5 games.
