Donald Trump's new social media platform, Truth Social, has already been plagued with signup issues and a long wait list.
Maybe that is the price users must pay for a truly free speech platform?
Truth Social and its free speech branding is falling apart just one day after it was soft-launched.
After signing up for Truth Social, web developer Matt Ortega received an email from the company telling him that his account had been banned.
One of the many still on the Truth Social waiting list was the account of Ortega, who had never posted a single thing to the site. The usernames he used to sign up for the platform were the reason he was banned.

The same name is used by a parody account that gained attention when it was sued by a congressman for pretending to be a cow. The account, among others, was claimed to be defamatory by Nunes.
The account was created in reference to a report that the former congressman from California has ownership in a family dairy farm in Iowa, which he had kept secret.
The CEO of Truth Social, a company owned by the Trump Media and Technology Group, left Congress to take the job.
The subject of the Truth Social email that was received by Ortega was "Your account has been banned."
To be clear, a user was banned from Trump's new social media platform because they registered a name that the CEO of Truth Social doesn't like.
When it involves Trump and others who own the platform, Truth Social has rules limiting speech. When Truth Social was first announced last year, the site's terms of services explicitly prohibited tarnish, or otherwise harm, in our opinion, us and/or the site.
The limits of Truth Social's free speech have already been experienced by other people.
The right-wing personality claims he was also discriminated against on Truth Social. Peters already has an account set up on Trump's platform and is posting content. According to Peters, his post calling for the execution of those responsible for the COVID-19 vaccine was labeled as sensitive content by Truth Social, requiring users to go through an extra step to view the content in the post.

The vaccines that are available in the U.S. were developed under the Trump administration.
Peters wrote on the Telegram that he was already beingcensored on Truth Social.
While the action taken against Peters post may seem fair, this is the very kind of platform behavior Trump's supporters are seeking to escape when they start using Truth Social. The free speech rules of Truth Social are likely to be the same as those of the Big Tech companies they seek to replace.
Truth Social is going to be more restrictive on speech. There is a ban on excessive use of capital letters.
