A few weeks ago the welcome offers for three of the American Express and Hilton credit cards were greatly improved. These are the best bonuses I have ever seen on these cards, as they include both bonus points and free night reward certificates. Let's go over the details of the offers.

Hilton Honors Amex cards get free night welcome offers

There are special welcome offers on three of the Amex cards that include points and free night certificates. For those not familiar with free night certificates from the hotel.

  • While they can historically only be redeemed on weekends, those issued in 2022 can be redeemed for stays any day of the week, which gives them a lot more flexibility
  • Free night certificates are valid for a year from when they’re issued, and you can expect they’ll be issued within 16 weeks of when you complete minimum spending
  • Free night certificates can be redeemed at a vast majority of Hilton Honors properties that cost up to 150,000 Honors points per night, and there’s just a small list of excluded properties
  • I’ve consistently gotten huge value with these certificates — I’ve redeemed my last four at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal, Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, and Conrad Bora Bora Nui

If you're eligible for one of these cards, I'd recommend applying.

Are you eligible for Hilton Honors Amex cards?

It's easy to be approved for a Hilton Honors Amex card.

  • Each of these cards is considered a separate product, so you’re eligible for the welcome offer on each card
  • The standard American Express card application rules apply, including that you’re generally limited to having five Amex credit cards at a given point (this doesn’t include charge cards and hybrid cards)
  • For those with excellent credit, I find Amex credit cards to be among the easiest to be approved for
  • If you are worried about Chase’s 5/24 rule, applying for the Hilton Honors American Express Business Card won’t count as a further card toward that limit

Which Hilton Honors Amex offer is best?

Here are a few things to consider if you're trying to decide which offer makes the most sense.

The welcome bonuses on the American Express cards are the best I have ever seen. You can earn a lot of bonus points and also get a free night award, which could be very valuable.

If you're looking for a no annual fee card, then the Hilton Honors Card from American Express is for you. If you're looking for a card with better perks and a better bonus, I recommend the American Express Business Card.

Are you going to pick up a Amex with these improved bonuses?
