The Washington Commanders want a franchise quarterback at the helm.

The Commanders are going to pursue a big-ticket quarterback and won't limit themselves in their pursuit, according to Jeremy Fowler.

The uncertain futures of quarterbacks like Rodgers, Wilson, and Deshaun are expected to be decided in the next few years.

Rodgers, Wilson, andWatson are in control of their own futures. Rodgers is a free agent at a point in his career where he would retire rather than not play for his preferred team, and Wilson and Watson have no-trade clauses in their contracts.

From a public relations standpoint, the civil lawsuits filed against him make him impossible. Washington is still dealing with the aftermath of an investigation into widespread workplace misconduct, and the owner of the team is currently being investigated for allegedly sexually harassing a former employee.

Members of Congress criticized the Commanders for not creating a safe working environment for women. The organization already has a lot of controversies.

If Rodgers and Wilson requested a trade, they would be welcomed back to their current teams. Neither seems likely to push for a deal to Washington, which has a roster that is not as good as either the Packers or Seattle.

A Jimmy Garoppolo-level quarterback would be acquired by the Commanders. Garoppolo could compete with Taylor Heinicke in training camp for the starting job and give Washington someone with a winning stat line.

The team could look to get back together with Kirk Cousins, who is in the final year of his contract with the Minnesota Vikings. Before he joined the Vikings, he played his first six seasons in the National Football League in Washington.

Kevin O'Connell, the new Vikings coach, has said he plans to build an offense around the quarterback, so it may be more likely that he signs an extension in Minnesota.
