The first legally binding weddings to take place in Antarctica took place during a nine-night expedition cruise that set sail for the Seventh Continent on February 14, 2022.
For the first time, betrothed couples were legally joined in matrimony on the Seventh Continent in February.
The first official wedding took place on the island of Antarctica. Bryan Clark, a Marriage Officer with the British Antarctic Territory, presided over the 15-minute ceremony on Danko Island.
Atlas performed four weddings and three vow renewals in four days during World Navigator's current nine-night Antarctica expedition. The destination wedding package was free for guests who registered in advance.
Atlas Ocean Voyages is happy to perform the very first official weddings in Antarctica, not just ceremonial as often happens. This is the most unique wedding experience for our guests.
The official U.K. wedding license is valued at more than $650 and is recognized by the United States government. World Navigator hosted a shipwide wedding reception, as well as held separate bachelorette and bachelor group parties, to create a unique, complete and unforgettable nuptial exchange. The package included a wedding cake, digital photo package, welcome itinerary, gift bag, custom nuptial announcements and Thank You cards.
