Ben Simmons is close to his Brooklyn Nets debut.

Ramona Shelburne said Monday that Simmons is planning to "really ramp it up" after the All-Star break.

Ben Simmons is going to really ramp it up this week and see where he is at the end of the week. Shelburne said on NBA Today that it will be more like weeks rather than months.

Simmons requested a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers during the off-season due to mental health concerns. Simmons, Curry, and two first-round draft picks were traded to James Harden and Paul Millsap at the deadline.

Simmons told reporters at his introductory press conference that he feels good. Staying on top of that is an ongoing thing. I think I'm headed in the right direction.

Simmons could be used by the Nets as soon as possible. They went into the All-Star break having lost 12 of their last 14 games.

Irving is ineligible to play in home games and some road games because of his refusal to get the vaccine. He will miss four of Brooklyn's first five games because of his vaccine status.

Kevin Durant is out with a knee injury and has not set a timetable for his return. He hasn't played since January 15.

The Nets are sitting in eighth place in the Eastern Conference with a 31-28 record. If the season ended today, they would need to win the play-in tournament to get into the playoffs.
