Abdelhak Nouri: Ajax pay former midfielder's family £6.5m for inadequate medical care which left him with brain damage

Despite being revived after a cardiac arrest, Nouri suffered brain damage. The medical care in the field was not adequate and the company acknowledged liability for the consequences.

The family of former player Abdelhak Nouri will receive 7.85 million euros after he suffered serious brain damage due to inadequate medical care.

Nouri's playing career was ended after he suffered a cardiac arrest in a pre-season match against Werder Bremen in Austria.

Nouri suffered serious and permanent brain damage despite being revived and rushed to a hospital. The liability for the consequences was acknowledged by the company after they admitted that medical care in the acute phase on the field was not adequate.

An agreement was reached with the family of Nouri and the proceedings before the committee had been terminated as a result.

We all know that the suffering for Abdelhak and his family is not over. It remains a sad situation, that is how the general manager of Ajax feels.

The family takes care of Abdelhak with a lot of love and attention. The family always welcomes me with open arms when I visit.

We appreciate that, and it applies to other colleagues as well.

Nouri's contract was canceled by Ajax in March 2020.
