The flagship phone in China, the OnePlus 10 Pro, has a 5000mAh battery and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, but it might not be the most durable phone on the market. The phone snapped in half when the creator of the popular JerryRig Everything channel tried to bend it.
The bend test for the portion of the video starts at 6:57 and the embedded video below should begin at that time.
When Nelson first pushes on the phone, the back glass begins to crack, and many of the cracks appear under the phone. The top part of the phone begins to fold over when he pushes again.
Nelson tears off the rest of the back glass of the phone to see the inside. Nelson was able to crack it in half with his bare hands because of the placement of the cell on the side and the fact that the phone snaps right above the battery. The thinner metal around the phone may have allowed the phone to break as well.
Nelson went out of his way to try and push the phone to its structural limits, which is why it broke. It's not likely that many average users will try to break their phone in half.
Nelson's test shows that the phone is vulnerable to damage when bent too far, which is something you should keep in mind if you want to get one of your own. The company didn't respond to a request for comment about the video or if it plans to make any changes to the phone to make it more durable.
There are other companies that have come under scrutiny for the easily bent devices. Some owners of the 6 and 6 Plus phones reported that they were more prone to bending than the 5S, according to internal documents released as part of a lawsuit. Nelson found that the iPad Pro could break when bent, and that the ROG Phone 5 didn't hold up well in 2021.
