Kim Mulkey has LSU back in the top 10 for the first time in 13 years as the Tigers moved up three places to No. 8 in the Associated Press women's basketball poll on Monday.
In her first season at LSU, Mulkey has guided the team to 23 victories. South Carolina is the unanimous top team in this week's poll.
The last time LSU was in the top 10 was in 2009, and they haven't won many games since. The Tigers beat the No. 1 team. The crowd for the basketball game on Sunday was the fourth largest in school history.
The Gamecocks continued their run atop the poll. A share of the SEC title will be shared by 12 Tennessee on Sunday.
3 North Carolina State. North Carolina moved up six places in the poll after defeating Louisville.
Michigan was sixth, and UConn was seventh. LSU was one spot behind Iowa State. The Hoosiers lost twice.
RISING IRISH.
Notre Dame moved up five spots to its best ranking since the end of the season. The Irish have two games left. Notre Dame's game at Virginia on Tuesday was ruled a forfeited win by the Atlantic Coast Conference. The game was put off because of the issues. Virginia forfeited the second time in the last two weeks.
Not enough.
Kansas was outside the Top 25. The Big 12 games against Iowa State and Texas are two of the toughest remaining games for the Jayhawks. Kansas hasn't been ranked in a while.
The game of the week.
The Michigan at Iowa game is on Sunday. The last time the teams met, Clark scored 46 points for the Hawkeyes. If Michigan beats Michigan State on Thursday and beats Iowa again, it will win the Big Ten regular-season title.
