Right-wing provocateur Candace Owens drew criticism Sunday for saying that the US should invade Canada in response to Prime Minister Trudeau's response to the trucker protests there.

Don't talk about Russia. Owens wrote that American troops should be sent to Canada to deal with Trudeau Castro.

She wrote that Trudeau has declared himself a dictator and is attacking innocent Canadian protesters and those who have supported them financially.

Critics responded with mockery.

Ben Domenech, a conservative commentator and the founder of The Federalist online magazine, said that he loved the fact that no one of importance ever listens to this dumb person.

Joe Walsh, a radio host and anti-Trump Republican, said that her views shouldn't be quickly dismissed.

If there is one thing I have learned from everything I have said, it is that Candace Owens is very much a mainstream GOP base. That is scary.

Her comments are similar to those of other right-wing populists in the US. They have spoken out in support of the truckers in Canada who are protesting against a mandate requiring them to make frequent cross-border trips to get vaccinations.

The protests have been hailed as a stand against government overreach by Republicans, who have stirred support for the truckers and used the protests as a fund-raising cause.

Trudeau invoked emergency powers to restore order after he tried to freeze their funding.

Owens spoke out in support of Russia as it menaces Ukraine with invasion.

They wanted to lay the blame for Russian aggression with NATO and opposed US involvement in the crisis.
