On Sunday evening, Truth Social, the new social media app from former president Donald Trump, was available on the App Store.

I tried to use the app on Monday. It did not go to plan.

I received a number of error messages when I tried to verify my email address in order to join Truth Social.

I was able to create an account on my fifth attempt.

I was placed on a wait-list of 157,000 other people because of the demand for the app.

My position on the wait-list didn't change over the next hour. Truth Social sent me an email 26 minutes after I signed up to let me know I had moved up on the wait-list.

I was unable to see the accounts or posts of other users on Truth Social.

According to its official website, Truth Social experienced technical difficulties shortly after launching to the public.

Several users complained that they were getting the same error messages as I did, or that they had been placed on a wait-list, after the app launched last week.

The former president was banned from social media after the Capitol riots, but is expected to return to it with the help of Truth Social.

According to the CEO of the company, he expects Truth Social to be operational by the end of March.
