It was a big year for superhero movies. Spider-Man: No Way Home and Venom: Let There Be Carnage were both successful at the box office. The ultimate answer the two films landed on was not what fans expected, as the conversation surrounding both films was if Sony's Eddie Brock would come and try to use Peter Parker's head as a stick of gum. Eddie and Venom ended up in the universe of the MCU after the post credits for Let There Be Carnage, just as Peter's identity was revealed at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home. The post-credits for No Way Home show Eddie on an island, catching up on what the hell is going on in this universe, but that's not the case; you would think Eddie would show up in No Way Home and randomly try to jump Peter. When he and Venom have decided to be this universe's Lethal Protector, the spell cast by Doctor Strange sends them home.
The small piece of Venom that was left behind will likely make its way to New York in the near future. Will we see a version of Eddie Brock in Spider-Man 4? Will Tony Revelori's flash Thompson get the symbiote like he did in the comics? At the Fan Fest, writerErik Sommers said that the scene left the door open for exciting possibilities. Chris said that he had no idea, and that they were not masters of that next adventure.
Venom will be one of many consequences of No Way Home that Peter will have to deal with. Sommers and McKenna were asked about the physical evidence of Peter's dual identity. The pair were vague about if this was the plot hole that fans think this is, with McKenna saying they have thoughts and answers. We have answers.
Explaining that aspect of Strange's memory erase spell would take away from the personal impact of Peter being alone now that no one knows who he is. Sommers said that the spell could affect Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, and they discussed how to show how it took effect. He said that they didn't want to distract from the emotion of what was going on with Peter.
