Michigan coach Juwan Howard appeared to take a jab at Wisconsin assistant Joe Krabbenhoft in the post-game handshake line, setting off a brawl between the two teams.

Gard stopped Howard in the handshake line, leading to the two men exchanging words before being surrounded by a few players and coaches. Howard put his finger in Gard's face and grabbed his sweater before Krabbenhoft came over. Howard grabbed Krabbenhoft's face.

Both teams began pushing and shoving, with Michigan forwards Moussa Diabate and Terrance Williams appearing to throw punches.

Gard told CBS after the game that Howard was upset with Wisconsin calling a late timeout. Gard took a timeout with 15 seconds left.

Apparently he didn't like that I called the timeout to reset the call. Gard told CBS that he didn't want to put his backups in that position. I took a timeout and gave them a new 10 seconds to organize and get the ball in. He didn't like that when he came through the line. I will leave it at that and the tape will show the rest.

The Wisconsin team won, 77-63.
