Ted Cruz blasted President Biden on Sunday for allowing Russia's aggression towards Ukraine, saying it was the best thing that could have happened to Russian President Putin.

Cruz was asked if the White House's approach to the situation at the Ukrainian border has worked so far during an appearance on Fox News Sunday.

It hasn't worked at all. The Ukrainians have asked the United States to put sanctions onNord Stream 2. He doesn't want to do it. They said to give us the weapons to defend ourselves.

Cruz said that the Senate's support for sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 was changed by who was in the Oval Office and that Democrats voted in favor of Russia.

Joe Biden came to Capitol Hill to personally lobby Democratic senators to vote against Russian sanctions. That is the reason we are facing this invasion. Cruz said that Joe Biden becoming president was the best thing that had ever happened to Putin.

The Biden administration will issue unprecedented sanctions against Russia if it invades Ukraine. Zelensky called on Western governments to impose sanctions against Moscow.

Biden said last week that he was convinced that Russia was planning on invading Ukraine, though members of his administration have said that diplomatic paths towards deescalation are still on the table.
