There has been a single rule about Master Chief for 20 years. He doesn't show his face or take off his helmet.
The character of Master Chief has worked like this for a long time, and there is no creed that requires him to do this. A rule is about to be broken.
Master Chief will reveal his face in the second season of the Paramount Plus Halo TV series.
The studio head of Transmedia talked to IGN about it.
She said that they set out to tell a character story and a personal story.
You will see his face. For some people, it has been 20 years in the making, and for others it feels very hard to imagine. Those who really want to see Chief's face and those who really don't are both respected by us. It was important to show the face of the Master Chief in order to connect with him in a different way.
It shouldn't be a big deal that this is where we ended up, given that the main question from the beginning was why the series didn't have a Master Chief voice actor like Steve Downes. It makes sense that the chief was going to be shown without his helmet.

Since we know which actor is playing him, we know what his face looks like. You may know him from American Gods or Orange is the New Black.

Chief will be seen out of his helmet in the show. Mando took his helmet off for a few scenes in The Mandalorian. The Book of Boba Fett had Fett walking around without a helmet. It's not often, but we'll see.
I am skeptical of this whole project. I think this is a bit premature for the show to think that it should be the place to reveal Master Chief's face after all this time. It feels weird to me. The trailer was good, but I'm not sure how this is going to go. I hope it's a pleasant surprise, Master Chief's face and all, but there are a lot of hurdles it will need to overcome to satisfy both fans and newcomers. March 24 is when the game is launched on Paramount Plus.
