  • A competition to watch the Super Bowl with a TikTok star shocked the winner.

  • It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that changed her perception of influential people.

  • This is the story that was told to Chris.

The as-told-to essay was edited for length and clarity after it was based on a conversation with a woman.

When I entered a competition to win two tickets to the Super Bowl, I didn't know much about her.

I was happy to donate to the American Cancer Society when I received an email about the competition, because I work with cancer patients and often do so. My husband really wanted to see the Super Bowl live, so it seemed like a win-win.

I made a donation and knew that I had a small chance of winning, but I thought it would be worth it for a good cause. Despite living in California, where the Super Bowl took place this year, I knew it would be difficult to see it live as a normal person because the tickets are so expensive and sell out fast.

The Super Bowl can bring up to $500 million to host cities, but economists think it can bring between $30 and $130 million. The disparity is explained by Victor Matheson's research.

I got an email five days before the big day saying that I won. I was not sure if I could believe it. I thought it might be a scam. I kept wondering if this was real.

I believed it when I had the tickets in my hands.

I was excited about going to the Super Bowl. It was a bonus, albeit one I was a little hesitant about, but it turned out to be an experience I will never forget.

Seeing the Super Bowl live with a TikToker was an incredible experience

We had never been to a pro football game. Being there and rooting for the Rams in person was an amazing experience for me. Words cannot describe it. We felt like we were part of history.

We got to watch some of the musical performances at the tailgate party when we arrived, and the staff of the NFL escorted us to the field. We were very grateful and privileged that this was for a good cause.

I think the most amazing part was getting into the field and watching the players warm up, and he was a little starstruck by some of the commentators he saw.

We didn't know much about Addison Rae beforehand, but we quickly became fans

I don't use TikTok a lot and I don't follow a lot of social media.

When I read about her, I realized she was the fourth biggest TikToker with over 86 million followers and a $2 million deal.

We became fans when we looked through her social media feeds and listened to her first single.

Going into the big day, we were excited but worried about our interactions with her. I had a hunch that the people who were talking to us would be detached. It was not like that.

The person seemed to want to spend more time with us. She was very sweet. She got to know about us as well.

The fact that we have ordinary jobs working in healthcare, but were able to support a charity we believe in feels incredible.

All of our family and friends were there for us.
