A passenger who went missing while on a ferry that caught fire has been found.

The incident was reported by multiple outlets.

According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, the man was found near the stern of the ship as it was being towed to the shore.

Greek media reported that the Euroferry Olympia ferry was destroyed by fire near the Greek island of Corfu early Friday morning.

According to Proto Thema, it was heading for the Italian port of Brindisi when the incident occurred.

The ferry carried more than 300 passengers and 11 of them are still missing. They were from Greece, Turkey, andLithuania.

Grimaldi Lines did not respond to the request for comment made outside of normal working hours.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but the incident is being investigated.

In an interview with the news agency, one of the passengers described his traumatic experience.

Many passengers were truck owners or drivers who were transporting household goods and furnishings between Greece and Italy or other European countries.

Emergency services are trying to locate the remaining missing passengers, but high temperatures on the ship have hampered their discovery, according to a local Greek outlet.
