Did you catch the video game moment on the beach?

This isn't really a big deal since Sony Pictures revealed the surprise in an ad, but there is a fun cameo that ties directly to the hit series, which was the inspiration for the new Tom Holland-led action movie. Knowledgeable viewers spotted it, but Nolan North, the voice actor who has played Nathan Drake in every Uncharted game, makes an appearance.

Right after the big airplane escape/skydiving setpiece. After Holland's Drake, along with Sophia Ali, were able to escape death against all odds, they found themselves on the beach of a tropical resort. A man sitting in a beach chair smiles as he walks out of the water.

Holland-as-Drake replies matter-of-factly, "Fell out of a car then fell out of a plane."

The man is from the North. He is a prolific voice actor in video games, but not everyone knows his actual face. The two Drake actors have their own kind of Spider-Man pointing meme moment.

Even if Sony had not spoiled the North surprise in an ad that ran before the movie, it was never going to be a surprise for long. If he does return in a theoretical sequel, North has done some interviews and sees a way to keep the good times rolling.

During an interview with Variety, North said that he wouldn't have been the right actor to play a live-action Drake at age 51.

He said that he would be old enough by the time a sequel was out. In the imagined redux cameo, he imagined Holland's Drake having a moment of recognition where he would shout: "You're the guy from the beach!" to North. You're doing great.

It would be cute. One of the highlights of the new movie is the cameo by the main character. Holland has more range than fans of his turn as Spider-Man may think. He makes this movie more enjoyable than you might think. The cast of colorful villains and scoundrels is underused and weighed down by some strange casting choices.

The game was released in theaters on February 18.
