Lakers' LeBron James Says 'The Door's Not Closed' on Returning to Cavaliers

Even though he will be a legend in Cleveland for the rest of his career, his time with the NBA team in Ohio may not be his last.

James told Lloyd that the door was not closed on a possible return to Cleveland. I have no idea what my future holds. I don't know when I'm free.

James is a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

If his son ends up in the NBA, it will be the biggest factor in James' future.

If the one-and-done rule is still in place, the younger James would be eligible for the NBA draft in 2024. He wanted to play with his son at the highest level.

James said that his last year will be with his son. I would play with my son for a year. It is not about money at that point.

It is not difficult to imagine an NBA team selecting Bronny in the draft as much for his own skill set as the chance to convince his father to join in free agency. Even at 37 years old, the older James is still playing at an All-Star level, despite being on the shortest list of the best players in NBA history.

The idea of James returning for a farewell season is intriguing to Cleveland.

He spent the first seven seasons of his career in Cleveland and led them to the NBA finals in 2007. After four seasons with the Miami Heat, he returned to the team that drafted him and led it to three more NBA Finals.

The Cleveland Indians have a 35-23 record and a young core that features All-Star Darius Garland. A veteran James could be the difference between an early playoff exit and a deep run when some of the young core has more experience.

It would be a full-circle moment for him if he got to play with his son.
