  • We live in a small home that reflects our style and interests.

  • We have a functional office space in the loft that we treat like a bedroom.

  • It is easy to live with less when you use every inch of your home.

I spent the past five years paring down my belongings, researching cost and financing options, and talking to everyone about all things small because I had a fascination with tiny homes since I was a teenager.

I asked Thomas if he would like to tour a tiny-house community with me. We moved into our new home a little over a year later.

We can make the most of our space.

We filled a 42-inch space with a desk of the same length

Since I am a college student and a manager, my home office was high on my priority list.

We have 42 inches of floor space between the wheel well and the wall of our bathroom, so we found a desk that filled the space. We put our heating system under it and still have plenty of room.

An over-the-toilet shelf in our bathroom holds all our essentials

The smallest part of our home is the bathroom.

We had to keep our bathroom clean and free of mess, and our over-the-toilet shelf held the things we needed with room to spare.

Our bed is lofted and we treat that space like an actual bedroom

The perfect place to sleep is our loft, which is where we ascend our ladder every night.

The loft is only 3 feet tall but has everything we would want in a bedroom.

We have a small TV on the wall, a table, and a window in our room.

A custom paint job in our living room adds personality and divides our home into separate areas

When we moved in, we saw our house as a blank canvas, so we started planning a warm, inviting color scheme.

The painting of our living room perennial green and jackfruit was a fun bonding experience and helped us feel more in control of our space.

Open-concept storage helps us maintain a cleaner environment

The open shelving in our home keeps our home neat.

We have place settings for four and six sets of mugs and glasses, so everything is organized.

Large wall hangings can make a big statement in a small space

He loves to watch the stars move through the night sky, so we were drawn to a vintage school chart with a constellation design.

By focusing on one large piece, we can help create the illusion that our ceilings are higher.
