Growth projections for the metaverse are reaching into the trillions of dollars, and most social media influencers say they are contributing to the burgeoning virtual world, but the majority have yet to turn a profit for their efforts, according to a recent survey.
According to a survey conducted by Izea, a majority of US social media stars are participating in the metaverse.
The next version of the internet is referred to as the metaverse. Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is putting money and resources into preparing spaces to draw in virtual foot traffic and advertisers.
Izea said that social media stars hold the potential to drive more people to play, shop, and work in the metaverse in the coming years.
The firm said that brands can use influencer marketing to promote their products. Hundreds of thousands of dollars a year can be made byinfluencers who promote brands on popular social platforms.
Izea said that 51 percent of influencer are considering ways of making money from the metaverse. Only 21% of them said they are making money from their virtual ventures.
Investment banks on Wall Street are projecting huge potential. The metaverse will become an $8 trillion market according to Goldman. Grayscale projects $1 trillion in revenue from metaverse advertising, hardware and other components.
