Lucid Air, Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S in drag race
DragTimes

You can see how three of the highest-end performance EV fare in a straight-line brawl. DragTimes followed its previous match with a three-way drag race between theTesla Model S Plaid, Lucid Air Dream Edition and thePorsche Taycan Turbo S. In the video below, you can see that the outcome doesn't tell the whole story about any of these cars.

The Model S Plaid emerged victorious. The premium sedan of the company easily won all three races, pulling ahead of the other two. The 1,111HP Air has the most power, but it requires more effort to move than the Plaid. The 750HP output and 5,300-pound weight of the Taycan made it certain that it would be behind the pack.

Power-to-weight ratios were not everything. The Air doesn't have a launch mode, so it may be more impressive than it looks. A drag race isn't the sole benchmark of a car's performance. The Taycan is one of the better-handling EV in its class, and it might be your pick if you are more likely to drive a mountain road than a quarter-mile. It's a reminder that electric sedans can't do everything well.
