Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch in Ant-Man and The Wasp, and John Hancock, an irradiated "ghoul

Although various people have been trying to make some form of live-action entertainment out of the hit Fallout video game series for years, none of these projects have even gotten far enough along to hire someone to star in the dang thing. Today, it was announced that Goggins will be playing a leading role in Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy's attempt to bring the quirky post-apocalypse game to life.

According to Deadline, Goggins is believed to be playing a Ghoul in the game, which has ravaged their skin. Despite their infertility and some cases mental decline, they have a long lifespan and are immune to background radiation and/or nuclear fallout.

People who have grown up in the Vaults have traditionally been the protagonists of the games. I'm assuming Goggins will play one of the Vault-dweller's companions, since making a Ghoul the lead of the TV show would be a very wild decision for Nolan and Joy.

At least for now, there is no telling. We know that Nolan and Joy are going to produce the series, and that it will keep the weird 1950s-sci-fi-gone-horrib. It's a good start to hire an actor like Goggins.
