John Williams, dressed in a tuxedo, conducts an orchestra.

John Williams is one of the most important architects of Star Wars and will compose the theme music for Obi-Wan.

The first two Star Wars series on Disney+ had unique themes that were suited to the outsider characters they were hailing. It makes sense for Obi-Wan to get a more classical approach. It is a coup for Lucasfilm and Disney, considering the five-time Oscar winner rarely composes for television.

The trade notes that while Williams recorded the theme with an orchestra in Los Angeles last week, it's not yet known who is writing the score for each of Obi-Wan. It is not known if the Obi-Wan Kenobi theme will be a reprise of Williams' earlier Star Wars compositions or if it will be a completely new theme. We reached out to Lucasfilm and will update this post if we hear back.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is a film written by Joby Harold and directed by Deborah Chow, and features a group of actors, including a Jedi, Darth Vader, and a young Skywalker. The rest of the cast is made up of: Kumail Nanjiani, Robert Downey, Jr.,Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessel, and Maya Erskine. The first episode is on Disney+.
