Consumer Reports is ready to proclaim a new EV champion, despite the fact that the Model 3 has been their top choice for the past two years. The Model 3 has been removed as CR's EV Top Pick. According to editors, the Mustang is more practical and has better first-year reliability. A better ride and reduced noise help.

Ford's BlueCruise driver assist technology gave the Mach-E an edge, thanks to a more effective drive monitoring system that now counts toward vehicle scores. The autopilot was docked for functioning while drivers looked away.

The Model 3 is recommended by Consumer Reports because of its performance, long range, charging network and technology. The outlet couldn't recommend the Model Y as an EV Top Pick. The Model 3 is an average vehicle in the lineup, but the SUV-like ride ofTesla is much worse.

This isn't going to help the relationship between Consumer Reports andTesla. CR pulled recommendations for some models after the two disagreed on test results.
