Amid a series of coaching changes and an ongoing NCAA investigation into the program, Arizona State quarterback Jayden Daniels could be leaving the school.
Daniels is expected to enter the transfer portal Thursday.
It is unclear if Daniels would seriously consider withdrawing from the portal at a later date to remain at the school.
Bennett Meredith, a 3-star recruit, signed with Arizona State. Daniels had backups last season.
The NCAA was looking into potential recruiting violations at Arizona State, including hosting high school prospects during a dead period, as reported by The Athletic's Doug Haller in June.
According to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports, one of the allegations against the program involved Daniels mom, who is alleged to have helped book more than $1,100 in flights for recruits and the adults accompanying them during a recruiting trip from Florida.
The SunDevils have lost five coaches. Zak Hill resigned from the program last month after he was implicated for wrongdoing by the NCAA.
The program fired its wide receiver and secondary coach in January. Antonio Pierce resigned as defensive coordinator earlier this month.
Daniels was the second dual-threat quarterback in the recruiting class. He committed to the program in December.
He announced in December that he would return to the SunDevils in 2022.
Over the past three seasons, Daniels has appeared in 29 games. He has thrown for 6,025 yards, 32 touchdown, completed 62.4 percent of his attempts, and run for 1,288 yards with 13 touchdown in his college career.
Daniels has started at quarterback for Arizona State in the past three seasons. He was the quarterback for the Sun Devil's victory over Florida State in the Sun Bowl.
