More than a year after the deadly insurrection, a Kentucky woman was arrested on Wednesday for pepper spraying a line of police officers outside the Capitol building.
There are six charges against Stallings, including assault, resisting, or impeded officers using a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct in a restricted building, engaging in physical violence in a restricted building with a deadly or dangerous weapon, and civil disorder.
Two other defendants, including Stallings husband, Peter Schwartz, and Jeffrey Brown of California, were also named as additional defendants in a superseding indictment.
Schwartz and Brown were both arrested in the same year. Maly was charged in a criminal complaint after his arrest. All three pleaded not guilty.
According to the Justice Department, the four defendants are accused of using pepper spray against a line of police officers who were attempting to secure an area outside the Capitol building.
According to court documents, Schwartz was arrested last year after an anonymous tip told the FBI that he was supposed to be at a rehabilitation center in Kentucky on the day of the attack. Schwartz was on the steps of the Capitol that day.
According to court records, an anonymous source identified Schwartz as a traveling welder and a convicted felon who was released from prison. People who recognized Schwartz from his Kentucky booking photo gave prosecutors additional information. His case is in federal court.
According to the Justice Department, Stallings made her first initial court appearance on Wednesday. Her case is being prosecuted by the US Attorney for the District of Columbia.
An attorney for Stallings was not listed. Insider reached out to people who looked like they belonged to Stallings.
More than 800 people have been arrested in connection with the attack and more than 200 have pleaded guilty.
