The progressive San Francisco school-board president was recalled by voters earlier this week and claimed that her ousting was a victory for white supremacists.

The consequence of fighting for racial justice is that white supremacists will be mistaken. The support of the recall is aligned with this.

So if you fight for racial justice, this is the consequence. Don’t be mistaken, white supremacists are enjoying this. And the support of the recall is aligned with this. pic.twitter.com/HsYtQjvVeh

More than 70 percent of voters decided to recall López and two other progressive board members. The three board members were the only ones who could be recalled.

A Washington Post article about the recall of San Francisco school board members was shared by López.

In a warning for the left, critics saw that the board focused on equity issues while schools remained closed.

The recall vote was racially diverse, with hundreds of non-citizen immigrants who were eligible to participate.

Critics said the reform of the board prioritized social-justice politics over shepherding the district through the Covid-19 epidemic. The board did not do enough to reopen schools and fix the district's finances during the Pandemic.

Two single parents launched a campaign to recall the board members after they refused to reopen the city's schools last year.

The organizers of the recall were disappointed that the board directed its time and energy during the pandemic toward renaming 44 schools named after prominent Americans, including president Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.

The California Department of Education sent in an expert to help the school board fix its finances, after the district's budget deficit ballooned to $125 million last year.

The board hosted a two-hour debate over whether a gay white dad could join an all-female parent committee.

Collins was stripped of her committee assignments and her title of vice president in March 2021.

Three members must be appointed by London Breed.

The voters of San Francisco have made it clear that the school board must focus on delivering a well-run school system above all else, Breed said in a prepared statement.
