Loretta Lynch

People who are guilty tend to do bad things. The simple-minded return to the scene of the crime. The smarter ones will appoint someone from their accuser's group to defend them. The National Football League does a lot of stupid things, but they have never been dumb. It is proof that they will go far to keep white supremacy alive.

The announcement that the first Black woman to ever serve as the United States attorney general would be defending the NFL in a case in which Brian Flores, a Black man, is risking his career and livelihood to hold the league accountable for how they have mistreated and overlooked Black coaches for decades.

Black people were angry. White people were confused. People of all colors fell for the misdirection. Everybody ran after the play-action pass.

The problem is not Lynch. Lawyers have to go against their moral code to do their jobs. Defending someone to be guilty comes with territory. As historic and powerful as it was for the first Black president to appoint the first Black female Attorney General, let's not forget that the job description of that role is to be the nation's chief law enforcement officer.

Top. A cop.

Marinate that one.

The fury and disappointment that people are feeling about Lynch's decision to defend the NFL are unwarranted. Lynch's new employer should receive the energy towards her. They created a league that is 70% Black, with 24 of 32 teams having no Black coaches. The Bills, Commanders, Cowboys, Falcons, Giants, Jags, Saints, and theTitans haven't had a black head coach. The reason why the NFL has only had two Black club presidents is not because of Loretta Lynch. Mike McDaniel doesn't count because he identifies as a human.
