Matthew Stafford's awareness might not have been at an all-time high during the Super Bowl parade. He was captured chugging a bottle of Don Julio 1942 Tequila with a can of 805 Beer in his other hand. He turned his back and walked away as a photographer fell off an elevated stage while trying to take a photo of him and his wife Kelly Stafford.
Hours later, on social media, she said she fractured her spine in the fall, and that she slipped first off the stage. She works for the Rams, Los Angeles Kings, and Anaheim Ducks. Kelly Stafford appeared to hand her phone to Smiley to take a photo of the couple moments before the 10-foot plunge to the sidewalk. She fell out of the frame of the live stream as she was setting her feet.
Both Matthew and Kelly looked shocked. The Super Bowl-winning quarterback decided to drink some water and walk away from the incident. Kelly appeared to do better than her husband, walking to the edge of the stage to check on Smiley, whose camera equipment broke in the fall. After the tumble, the live stream pulls out a wide shot of the stage.
On social media, she said she was feeling ok after spending the night in the trauma center of the local hospital. A close friend of Smiley started a Go Fund Me to help cover her medical expenses and replace her camera equipment. The Rams and Stafford have not commented on the incident.
