After just four games, the Indiana Pacers have decided to part ways with veteran center Tristan Thompson.
Thompson will sign with the Bulls once he clears waivers, according to The Athletic.
Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle said after Wednesday's win against the Washington Wizards that it was fun while it lasted. He will be joining a team in the East when he is waived tomorrow.
The Pacers acquired Thompson at last week's trade deadline as part of the deal that brought in Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Hield from the Kings. The Pacers sent former All-Star forward Domantas Sabonis, Jeremy Lamb, Justin Holiday and a second-round pick.
Indiana improved to 20-40 with the win. Thompson had his best game since joining the team, finishing with 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting and six rebound in 21 minutes. He played 15 minutes in each of the last three games and didn't score in double figures.
Thompson received some praise on his way out, despite his short time with the team.
He has brought a high level of professionalism and has done a good job.
The Kings were defeated at home by Chicago in the last game before the All-Star break. The Bulls are first in the Eastern Conference. Thompson will provide some depth to a Chicago frontcourt that has been thin.
