Sen. Lindsey Graham said it was 'inappropriate' for Trump to float pardons for January 6 rioters

Lindsey Graham said that former President Donald Trump's suggestion of pardons for January 6 rioters was inappropriate.

During an appearance on CBS's "Face the Nation", the South Carolina Republican and Trump ally differed from the former president regarding his Saturday comments.

If I win, we will treat those people fairly, and if it requires pardons, we will do so.

Graham disagreed with the statements the former president made.

I don't want to send a signal that it was okay to ruin the Capitol.

He said it was inappropriate. I don't want to make sure that defiling the Capitol was ok. I don't want to do anything that will make this more likely in the future.

More than a year after the January 6 insurrection, 178 individuals have pled guilty to a range of crimes.

The attack on January 6 is currently being investigated by the bipartisan House select committee, which is disliked by Trump and many Republicans in Congress.

Since leaving the Oval Office last year, the former president has held campaign-style rallies across the country, but has yet to announce if he will run for president in 2024.

Graham made a connection between the two. The Minnesota Freedom Fund is a nonprofit organization that helps low-income individuals who need money for bail after the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

After Harris asked her followers to help post bail for those protesting on the ground in Minnesota, the former president and Republicans tried to make a connection between the two.

According to The Washington Post, most of the protesters did not need assistance from the Minnesota Freedom Fund and most of them did not have to post bail.

Graham brought up Harris during the Brennan interview.

He said that he didn't like that Kamala Harris and her associates raised money to bail out the rioters who hit cops in the head and burned down stores.

I don't want to raise bail or pardon people who take the law in their own hands because it will make more violence more likely. People who did what on January 6 will be deterred. I hope those who did it get the book thrown at them because they deserve it.
