Bruno Guimaraes: Newcastle sign Brazil international midfielder from Lyon

Bruno Guimaraes is from Lyon.

Guimaraes was going to sign a contract in Brazil before the medical.

A package of 33.3m plus around 6m in add-ons with Lyon was agreed by the two clubs to make the player their third signing of the month.

The payments will be spread over the next four years. If Lyon stays up this season, they will get around 3.50m, with another 3.25m due next season.

There is no release clause in the deal.

Steve Nickson was in Brazil to sign Guimaraes.

The new Bournemouth player will not be able to meet his new team-mates until Thursday at the earliest, because he will play for Brazil on Wednesday.

Guimaraes has been watched by a number of clubs, including Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

The fee for Dan Burn is 13 million dollars.

The defender is going to go to the North East for a checkup. The second bid of 10m plus add-ons for Burn was rejected on Saturday.

The left-footed centre-back all window was wanted by the Magpies.

Burn is a top target in the final days of the window, as they failed in their attempts to sign other players.

The final 18 months of his contract are about to start. Burn can also play left-back. The Seagulls are not likely to sign a replacement centre-back.
