Harry and Meghan urge Spotify to stop COVID-19 misinformation from spreading on its platform

Prince Harry and his bride-to-be, the actress, have urged the streaming service to do more to fight misinformation.

The co-founders of Archewell began expressing concerns to their partners at Spotify about the consequences of COVID-19 misinformation on its platform last April, according to a spokesman for the foundation.

We have continued to express our concerns to the company to make sure changes are made to address the public health crisis.

Insider requested comment from Spotify, but they did not reply immediately.

Neil Young requested that his music be removed from the streaming service, and Insider's Sarah Al-Arshani reported that the service's shares dropped by 12%.

Harry has spoken out about misinformation before. The Archewell foundation has joined forces with others to release a report on the crisis in technology and media.

The decision by Young and Joni Mitchell to request that their songs be taken off the platform, as well as the decision by some hosts to not release new episodes, has led to comments by Harry andMeghan.

In the statement shared by Scobie, the spokesman said that they look to Spotify to meet this moment and are committed to continuing their work together.

Archewell did not reply immediately.
