According to Adam Schefter, the Chicago Bears are expected to hire Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach/passing game assistant coach Luke Getsy.
In college, Getsy was an offensive quality control coach and in the NFL, he was an offensive quality control coach for the Green Bay Packers. He was promoted to wide receivers coach.
Getsy left the Packers to work for Mississippi State as their offensive coordinator and wide receiver coach in the fall of 2018, before rejoining the Packers under Matt LaFleur in the spring of 2019.
He has been the team's quarterbacks coach since then, and he has also been the passing game coach in 2020.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that Getsy was a candidate to become the Packers' new offensive coordinator after Nathaniel Hackett left to become the Denver Broncos head coach.
According to Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Packers offensive line coach and run game coach Adam Stenavich will be getting an in-house promotion to OC. Rapoport said that Getsy is expected to move to OC soon.
The Bears have a new general manager in Ryan Poles and a new head coach in Matt Eberflus.
They parted ways with GM Ryan Pace and coach Matt Nagy after a 6-11 season.
The new regime has made one of its most significant hires, as Getsy will leave for the rival Bears and work with second-year quarterback Justin Fields to jump-start a team that finished No. 27 in scoring last season.
