Joni Mitchell joins Neil Young, pulls her music from Spotify over vaccine misinformation

Joe Rogan's headaches is going to get worse.

Neil Young announced this week that he was pulling his music from the streaming service because of the company's relationship with Joe Rogan, who the company brought under its wing in an exclusive $100 million deal two years ago. In a post to her website on Friday, Mitchell said she would remove her catalog from the streaming platform and stand with Neil Young.

I have decided to remove my music from the service. Mitchell stood in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue.

As one of the world's most famous and most well-respected living musicians, Mitchell's decision to abandon Spotify over Rogan is bound to turn some heads. She didn't have a beef with the service over its stream quality.

The Joe Rogan Experience is no stranger to controversy. Rogan and his guests have openly expressed transphobia, discouraged his listeners from wearing face masks to reduce Covid-19 transmission, and spread doubt about vaccines.

Rogan's show is the most popular in the world, with an estimated 11 million listens per episode.

Rogan spotlights guests who make no effort to fact-check their claims. Hundreds of medical professionals signed onto an open letter slamming Spotify for profiting off of putting lives at risk as the Pandemic rages on after his decision to host Dr. Robert Malone. Young left the service this week and Mitchell linked to the letter in her own message.

The JRE platform was used by Dr. Malone to promote a number of baseless claims, including the idea that societal leaders have hypnotized the public.

Many of the statements have been discredited. One of the recent JRE guests has compared the policies of the swine flu to the Holocaust. These actions are offensive and dangerous.
