NASA Astronaut Touts the Benefits of Drinking Russian Pee

The astronauts and cosmonauts up there in space are drinking recycled piss from each other.

In a new interview with CNN, NASA's Steve Swanson commented on the military tensions between Russia and Ukraine, saying that when he was on the International Space Station, everything was gravy.

Nobody talked about it. The trip to the International Space Station was not happening, according to Swanson.

The complex interdependence and mutual reliance of the International Space Station's international crew deterred political drama when they were interacting with Russian cosmonauts. Both Mastracchio and Swanson noted that they have to recycle urine from each other on the International Space Station for hydration.

Mastracchio told CNN that it was always troublesome to ask if you could borrow a tank of urine.

He had a slightly different take.

He said that they recycle the cosmonauts' urine to get more water. It's survival.

Both sides are important to the other.

The American side can't function without the electricity on the American side, and the Russian side can't function without the propulsion systems on the Russian side. You can do a conscious uncoupling.

The US-Russia space alliance has gone smoothly since 1975, despite the fact that NATO allies may have to defend Ukraine against the former Soviet Union.

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson is optimistic that politics on terra firma will not harm the US or Russia.

It scares me that if this becomes a shooting war, it would be hard for the International Space Station to survive.

It may seem like relying on the pee of another nation would create an unbreakable bond, but after all, all is fair in love and war.

Tensions with Russia worry former US astronauts.

Anti-vaxers are drinking human urine for disgusting reasons.
