The New Orleans Pelicans had a chance to win the game in the final seconds, but Denver's Jokic scored 22 of his 29 points in the second half and the Nuggets held on for a 116-105 victory.
It was the reigning NBA champ's sixth triple-double in January, tying for the most in a calendar month in his career. In a calendar month, the only other center with at least six triple-doubles is Wilt Chamberlain, who did it four times.
Jokic is nine triple-doubles away from tying Chamberlain for sixth on the all-time list.
Forbes said that he could take over a game when he wanted.
Jokic had seven points in the first half as the Nuggets led 50-48. He scored 16 points in the first 11 minutes of the second half, hitting three of the four 3-point shots.
"When Jok is making 3s, he is pretty much unguardable." said Gordon, who scored 20 points for Denver.
Jokic has been able to look to Gordon to help keep Denver rolling because of the absence of Murray.
Gordon, who plays small forward, said that Jokic's court vision, his passing ability, and his passion for the game make him fun to play with.
He plays the right way. He is a high-character guy. Gordon said he was just looking to make his job easy. I am trying to return the favor. It is a great feeling to know that he has my back.
Denver took an 86-78 lead into the fourth quarter and never relinquished it, going up by as many as 16 when Forbes, acquired from San Antonio in a three-team trade, hit a 3.
Monte Morris, who scored 13 points to go with 8 assists and 8 rebounds, said that they have high expectations forryn.
He was able to have that next-shot mentality and he hit some big ones. We need a shot-maker like that to expand our offense.
Austin Rivers, picked 10th overall by New Orleans in the 2012 draft, added 12 points for Denver, which won its fourth straight and ninth in 12 games.
The rookies scored 19 points and 18 points, respectively. Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 18 points for New Orleans, which lost its second straight and saw its four-game home winning streak snapped.
New Orleans made it difficult for Jokic to score the ball and set up his teammates for parts of the game, according to Jones.
Jones said that he was a great player and made his adjustments.
The club was without its top scorer and second-leading scorer due to illness.
Willie Green said that he was proud of the effort that the guys put in. We came up short.
The guard, who scored 15 points, appeared to hurt his left knee early in the fourth quarter. He was going to the locker room late in the game.
He will be reexamined and we will see where he is tomorrow, Green said.
