The New England Pats director of player personnel is expected to be the next general manager of the Las Vegas Raiders.

According to sources,McDaniels is having dinner with the Raiders leadership team on Friday night. He is expected to be hired along with Ziegler in the next few days.

The father and son duo have been with the Pats for the last 21 seasons. He took the Denver Broncos head coaching job after the 2008 season, but was fired after a 3-9 start.

He worked as a waiter. He returned to New England where he won six Super Bowl rings.

Before joining the Pats, the 44-year-old worked for the Broncos for three seasons. He has worked in a variety of roles for the Pats, including assistant director of pro scouting, director of pro personnel and assistant director of player personnel.

At the last minute, he backed out of his agreement to become the Indianapolis Colts head coach.

It appears that a job with the Raiders is more appealing to the man who finished sixth in scoring.

Mac Jones was handed the keys to the New England offense last year. Despite all of the changes, the team scored

That performance made McDaniels a name to watch in this year's coaching cycle yet again, though he reportedly didn't want to waste his time in the interview process.

"McDaniels informed the Raiders that he wouldn’t accept their interview request unless he was being offered the job, per sources. And the Raiders told McDaniels that if and when he was offered the position, he needed to be prepared to accept. Sources emphasized that all parties are on the same page, including McDaniels, Ziegler, Raiders owner Mark Davis, and team president Dan Ventrelle."

If he gets the job, he will replace interim head coach Rich Bisaccia, who led the team to an AFC Wild Card appearance after guiding the Silver and Black to a 5-5 mark down the stretch.

Jon Gruden resigned in October after it was revealed that he used racist, anti-gay and misogynistic language.

The Raiders parted ways with their general manager after they lost in the playoffs.

Rumors that University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh was going to the Raiders job will not come to fruition, because it appears that the head coaches of the West will be Josh McDaniels and John Ziegler.

Las Vegas made it to the playoffs for the first time since 2016 after a 10-7 season. The Silver and Black haven't won a playoff game since 2002.
