The Australian duo of Nick and Thanasi Kokkinakis won their maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, beating Matthew and Max in the men's doubles final.

The Special Ks won in front of a lively home crowd on Rod Laver Arena.

It was the first all-Australian men's doubles final.

Ashleigh Barty won the women's singles title after the match.

The pair liked the crowd and the rowdier the better, Kokkinakis said earlier in the tournament.

In the second round, the pair of Nicklas and Kokkinakis defeated the top two seeds, Mate Pavic and Mektic.

During the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, a young boy in the crowd was hit by a racquet thrown by Nick Kyrgios when he swiped away a ball.

The Australian pair of Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis are happy with their tennis, with the third seeds Granollers and Zeballos becoming the fourth seeds to be eliminated by the Australians.

The pair, who won the Wimbledon boys' title together, have both used the partisan atmosphere on Rod Laver Arena.

They got their audience going once again in a competitive opening set, eventually seizing their fourth break point for 5-5 before Kokkinakis served out to love.

The decibel levels were raised again at the start of the second set as the two players were chasing a maiden Grand Slam title.

The second set continued on serve, with four consecutive love holds, until the break to love put Kokkinakis and Kyrgios within two games of the title.

The umpire was forced to address the crowd for calling out during points and the culprit individuals were demanded to be removed.

Kokkinakis held for a lead. The pair were unable to take their first match point in the following game, but that was not enough to stop the victory.
