A ComputerWorld report recently revealed that one of the original founders of the original version of the operating system, Rich Miner, is working on tablets. According to his LinkedIn page, he has been in that role since March, 2021. He is leading software development for Android for large screens in thePlatforms and Ecosystems team.
It seems like the company may be doing something interesting with Android beyond phones and foldables, given that someone pivotal to the history of the OS is now working on tablets and some job listings have been posted. When it was being built by a company called Android, Inc., Miner worked on it. He has done a lot of things in the time since, but it seems like now he is working on making it better for tablets.
It's more than just Miner's role that shows a renewed focus on larger-screen devices. The upcoming update is focused on improving the foldable experience. The future of computing is shifting towards more powerful and capable tablets according to a job listing.
In the year of 2019, the company said that it would focus on laptops and not work on tablets. In the wake of the not-so-great Pixel Slate, the Chrome OS teams are 100% committed to working with our partners on tablets.
With the hires and rumors that the company is working on a foldable phone, it seems like the company is planning on returning to the tablet space. There was no comment from the company about whether it had reconsidered working on its own tablets.
There are some interesting comments made by Miner on the social networking site. There is an indication of hope at the end of a sad story. He replied to a comment from Mishaal Rahman saying that the upcoming update for larger screen devices is a great start.
It's a great start...

Apple isn't completely dominating the market, even though the iPad is the main focus. In the third quarter of 2021, Apple was the top seller of tablets with a 34 percent share. The second largest with around 18 percent market share is one of the competitors. It's possible that it's just going to focus on its relationship with the manufacturers of tablets, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to take another stab at the Pixel.
