After pulling himself out of consideration for a head-coaching job earlier this week, Dan Quinn has signed a new contract with the Dallas Cowboys.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told David Moore of the Dallas Morning News that he had extended the contract of the defensive coach.

According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Cowboys' defensive end told teams he was going to stay with the team for the 2022.

According to The Athletic's Jeff Howe, the Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants, and Chicago Bears were interested in him as their head coach.

The Cowboys defense was successful in the first season under Quinn. They had the highest weighted defensive DVOA in the league and were seventh in points allowed.

Jones is very confident that Quinn will be in Dallas for a long time.

I believe that very much. I know he is staying and being our coordinators for a long time. Jones told 105.3 The Fan that he knew that he was the busiest person in the area being interviewed for jobs. It is a compliment to the organization and a compliment to Mike.

Prior to being hired by Dallas, he was the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. He led the team to back-to-back playoff berths in 2016 and 2017.

The Falcons had an 0-5 start in 2020. He was 43-42 in Atlanta.

During the Legion of Boom era, Quinn was the defensive coach for the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks won the Super Bowl after leading the league in scoring defense.

The San Francisco 49ers eliminated the Cowboys from the playoffs in the Wild Card game.
