Since the farm cat first showed up in 2020, the announcement has been highly anticipated.

Michael LaRosa, the first lady's spokesman, told the New York Times thatWillow made an impression on Dr. Biden when she jumped up on the stage and interrupted her speech during a campaign stop.

Questions about when the first family would be joined have come up in interviews with Dr. Biden, and even with the White House press secretary. When asked about the cat during a session where she answered questions via social media, Psaki said she was also wondering about the cat because it was going to dominate the internet.

Commander, a German shepherd puppy, will be at the POTUS residence with his owner. Commander hasn't released an official statement regarding canine/feline diplomatic relations.

According to the Washington Post, the White House has over 100 dogs, but only a dozen cats. The last time a cat resided at the White House was during the Bush administration. Laura Bush had a cat named India. Socks was the center of controversy when Republicans took issue with taxpayer money funding his mail correspondences.

Is the East Wing free of control? Does she own a cat tree? Is White House staff worried about her? We have so many burning questions, but for now we know thatWillow is moving into the White House with her favorite toys, treats and plenty of room to smell and explore.
