Chris Godwin is set to become a free agent, but he is still a priority for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The tough and physical player who sets a tone for the offense, Lavonte David, is one of the reasons why the Bucs have high interest in re-signing him.

This is the second year in a row that Godwin could hit the open market. He was set to become a free agent, but the Buccaneers placed the franchise tag on him. The tender was signed by the 25-year-old in March.

The franchise tag on Godwin would cost the team more than $19 million if it is used again.

The salary cap for the Buccaneers is around $9 million, which is a decent position.

Tom Brady is not sure if he will return for a 23rd season. He said on his show that his family will be a factor in his decision.

I get so much joy playing football. Brady told Jim Gray that he loves it, but not playing football. All these things need to be considered.

Fowler reported in December that Godwin is still in a good position for a long-term deal, but his knee injury could affect his market slightly.

Over the past five seasons, the wide receiver has established himself as one of the best in the league. He was the leader in targets, reception and receiving yards despite missing the last four games.
