Some people involved in the Star Trek franchise will be included in the ashes and DNA of the debut Vulcan Centaur rocket launch.

As United Launch Alliance prepares to launch Vulcan to replace some older standbys in its fleet, the first flight will call back to the famous planet of Vulcan known to Star Trek fans. ULA will launch the Star Trek content as part of a collaboration with Celestis, which specializes in space memorial launches.

In honor of the famous Trek starships, this first Vulcan mission is also called "Enterprise". The First Family of Star Trek and the creator of the series will be included in the 150 capsule.

We are very pleased to be fulfilling a promise I made to Majel Roddenberry in 1997 that we would fly her and Gene Roddenberry together on a deep space memorial spaceflight.

The mission was named in honor of them, as well as fellow mission participant and beloved actor, Scotty Doohan, as well as many Star Trek fans who are joining.

You can see all of the participants in the enterprise mission here. Philip Chapman, who died last year at the age of 86 without having flown into space, is one of the more famous names on the mission.

Along with launching the Star Trek content, the Vulcan Centaur will also have a lunar lander on board. The mission calls for the upper stage of the rocket to put Peregrine on course to rendezvous with the moon and then on to deep space with the memorial payload.

At this time, it is not certain when the mission will take place. Blue Origin may not be able to send its BE-4 rocket engine for Vulcan before the second quarter of 2022.
