The first official mention of the rumored affordable sequel to last year's flagship device, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, may have just been offered in a coloring book. The coloring book and smart speaker were sent to the members of the Pixel Superfans group, which was launched last year to provide a "VIP experience" for those who love the company.
A variety of black and white sketches of devices from the search engine are shown in the coloring book. A table-of-contents lists a phone that has never been publicly mentioned by the company. The phone isn't shown when you turn to pages 6 and 7.
This wouldn't be the first time a phone from the company has been mentioned. There is a reference to the Pixel 5A in the photo that was posted to one of the R&D posts. The approach to announcing its phones, and the way in which it confirms details months ahead of their official launches, is unusual.
It's possible that a mention of the Google Pixel 6A is just a mistake. It's safe to assume that the phone is going to be a more affordable A-series device given the success of the other devices.
According to leaked renders from November, the Pixel 6A will have a similar design to the Pixel 6 with a black camera bar on its rear, but with a smaller overall design. The main camera on the device will have a lower resolution than the one on the 6. The lack of a headphone jack is a shame since it has been a staple of the previous A-series phones.
The Verge asked for comment from the company, but they did not reply immediately. You can try out the online version of the coloring book if you would like.
