The Philadelphia 76ers center is listed as 7 feet tall and 280 pounds, but he might be even bigger. Jose Alvarado is listed as 6 feet tall and 179 pounds.

When the two teams met up in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, the two-way signee from New Orleans went at the player.

A foul by Embiid sent Temple to the ground. The two exchanged words after the double technical foul was called, and Alvarado went chest-to-chest with Embiid.

On Thursday, he told reporters that he would cover the fine associated with the technical foul. The Philadelphia 76ers beat the Los Angeles Lakers 105-87 on Thursday night.

I like his energy. He plays hard. He competes. Even when he picked up the tech, he wasn't backing down. Two guys are playing basketball. He did not back down. I respected that. I like that about him.

I told him to keep fighting and keep going after the game. I made him pick up a tech because he doesn't make as much as other guys in the league and I felt like the least I could do. I didn't want him to lose that money because I'm sure we all need it.

Since he is on a two-way contract, he will make $462,629 this season. When the season is over, he will have made more than $132 million in salary over the course of his eight-year career.

The NBA fines players for technical fouls in the regular season. If a player hits 16 technical fouls, the fine jumps to $5,000 plus a one-game suspension, with each additional technical foul costing $5,000 as well.

The two players barked at each other throughout the game.

We talked during the game. It was all love and respect. Nothing personal. Two ballplayers were going at it. We are playing a sport. We were trying to hit each other. He told me at the free throw line to keep going after the tech and foul. It was not personal from the jump.
