According to Khristina Williams of Girls Talk Sports TV, the Las Vegas Aces are close to a deal that would bring A&ja Wilson back to the team.

Wilson is a restricted free agent who averaged 18.3 points and 9.3 rebound per game in 2021.

The three-time All-Star, who was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft out of South Carolina, led a team that finished second in the league with a 24-8 record. The Phoenix Mercury defeated Las Vegas in the semifinals.

The team went 8-26 in the year prior to Wilson's arrival, but she has turned it around.

Wilson had a team-high 20.7 points per game as the Aces improved by six wins and moved to Vegas.

Wilson was unstoppable in the 2020 campaign, dropping 20 points and 8.5 rebound per game as the Aces won 21 games and made the semifinals. The Seattle Storm defeated Las Vegas in the finals.

The Las Vegas team has a new head coach this year, as former NBA star and San Antonio Spurs assistant coach, Becky Hammon, takes over.

The first title in franchise history was won by the Aces because of Wilson's return.
